MISSOURI WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP COALITION

What is the Missouri Women's Leadership Coalition?

In 2001 leaders in several women’s organizations saw an opportunity for a new mission: to increase the number of progressive rural Missouri women elected at all levels of government, including the legislature and statewide offices. They banded together to form the MWLC.

We are a non-partisan coalition that recruits, trains, and gets elected women who support reproductive choice, family planning, ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment and other women's and family issues. The MWLC Education Fund is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Donations to this organization are tax deductible. The MWLC PAC was formed to provide financial support to candidates’ campaigns. Donations to the PAC are not tax deductible.

Outside of its urban centers, Missouri presents a harsh political landscape for progressive women running for office. We bring the support missing in rural areas through mentorship, training, volunteer networks, and financial support. The MWLC was formed to help women develop the skills to get involved in the political process ... and WIN!  In the 2018 election, we endorsed 31 candidates and 6 were elected. We are currently vetting women running for office in 2020. Be sure to follow our endorsements page for information on the candidates we are backing!

Here are what a few of our candidates have to say about MWLC...

Candidate Quote from Trish Gunby

"Your endorsement and support mean so much to our campaign. Thank you for the work you are doing for women in leadership."                Rhonda Dolan, Candidate for HD 31
